Sponsor a tree in Palestine!
The Bustan Qaraaqa Tree Nursery has the capacity to raise over 2000 trees every year, drawn from the native species of the Levant, and some novel species which we believe may be useful here in Palestine.
Some of these trees are planted at the Bustan Qaraaqa site as part of our experiments in agroforestry and land restoration. The majority however are donated to Palestinian farmers, schools and NGOs.
It costs money to raise trees: the seeds have to be acquired (usually on collection trips into the surrounding area), and then planted in growing bags of good quality compost and kept watered all year. We estimate that it costs approximately £10 to raise each tree, including the cost of transporting it to the site where it will eventually be planted.
Trees have the potential to protect and restore the degrading soil of Palestine, combat desertification, and yield an array of goods and services to the people. By planting trees we make a statement about hope, and an investment in a more positive future for Palestine.
